Mrs. Mickelson
I am the music and band teacher. I play the flute and piccolo and I enjoy participating in music. I love singing and helping children gain confidence as they learn to sing and create music in various ways.
Our elementary music classes include a lot of singing, movement, and fun. The kids are also being exposed to a variety of classical music and we talk about how we liked it, or what it made us think about. We are also learning how to read rhythms and notes which will help when they learn to play instruments which we start in 5th grade. We have a beginning band class for 5-6 grade and our 7-12th graders are combined in our concert band class. We work on a variety of music, ranging from basic, to more difficult, including some pep band pieces.
